San Marcos real estate area is a bedroom of San Marcos homes east of Vista, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. It is homee to a Palomar Community College and a California State University San Marcos.
San Marcos was named by Spanish soldiers who ventured into region on feast of St. Mark. Starting as a farming community, San Marcos was sustained by a rail line and rail station. With an excellent location, situated on the main thoroughfare between Escondido and Oceanside, San Marcos attracted commercial firms and light industry.
San Marcos is famous for its restaurant row which has the best selection of places to eat in close proximity than anywhere in San Diego North County. California Restaurant Row is right off San Marcos boulevard. San Marcos also has a large movie complex.
The San Marcos real estate area has several larger housing areas. Twin Oaks Valley is to the north and east. Discovery Hills is to the southeast. There is a very large area called Lake San Marcos homes that is built around a beautiful lake and two golf courses. Also in the Lake San Marcos area is the new gated community of Varadero.
